Further Information:

Detailed below is further information, which we hope will help you in your application.

General Points

All applicants are required to complete an application form. CV’s will not be accepted in place of the application form.

Before beginning to complete the application form it is important to read the Job Description and Person Spec. The Job Description outlines the main duties of the post whereas the Person Spec details the qualifications, experience, skills and abilities required to complete the duties.

The information on the Person Spec forms the selection criteria that will be used to shortlist for the post. Ensure the application form (and CRDF & EOF) is returned to the correct address in time for the closing date.

We are unable to consider late applications.

Pre-employment Checks

The Scottish Society for Autism is required to obtain a Criminal Records Disclosure check for all members of staff due to the nature of the work and the services we provide, in that we are responsible for working with children and adults with autism.

A criminal Records Disclosure is a document containing information held by both the police and government departments.

The Disclosure will only be applied for in respect of successful candidates. The Disclosure will be provided to the Society, with the successful candidates authorisation by Disclosure Scotland.

The reason for us applying for a Disclosure check from Disclosure Scotland is to ensure that we do not employ people with a conviction or criminal record history, which would make them unsuitable for posts that we are trying to fill. It is used by the Society to make recruitment decisions, however we would like to emphasise that having a conviction or criminal record history will not necessarily prevent a candidate from obtaining employment with us.

The Society follows the Code of Practice as set by Disclosure Scotland. Further information about Disclosures can be found on the Disclosure Scotland website www.disclosurescotland.co.uk

In addition to the above check, before you can start with us, we will also require to take up a minimum of two appropriate references, check original documentation proving your qualifications, identity and proof of eligibility to work in the UK and obtain a health report from our external Occupational Health Advisors.

How we use your personal information

If your application is successful, the information you provide will be retained and will form part of your personnel file.

If you are unsuccessful in your application, all documentation related to your application will be confidentially destroyed after a period of 6 months.
