Cafe Kudos, Carluke celebrated its second anniversary at the end of August 2007 - two years of great coffee, home-cooking and increasing popularity.
Customers are now asking the hours to be extended into the evening and weekends. The Cafe has also grown in unexpected directions with a takeaway service for office workers who can order lunch on the phone and come to collect and its first private party is taking place in the near future.
Currently five people with autism work at the Cafe supported by three autism practitioners. There are also two people with Aspergers Syndrome who are volunteers and were referred through the local Job Centre. They all have the opportunity to develop their skills through SVQ training in cooking, catering and hospitality at Motherwell College.
