Our Key Staff

Jim TaylorThe Director of Education and Support Services, Jim Taylor,oversees the management of New Struan and is part of the Senior Management Team responsible for the overall running of the Society.


Janet StirlingThe Head Teacher, Janet Stirling, is responsible for the overall running of the school and oversees the school management team and the education outreach support service. She works closely with the Head of Care to ensure a consistent 24-hour approach.

The Depute Head has responsibility for learning and teaching, including planning, organisation, monitoring and evaluation of the curriculum. The Depute Head Outreach is responsible for the education advisory service which supports and advises all schools.

The Psychological Consultant has responsibility for the emotional well- being of the pupils and support for behaviour and takes a lead role in planning for transitions.

The Speech & Language Therapist has responsibility for the development and implementation of the school’s Communication Strategy. Both the Psychological Consultant and the Speech & Language Therapist work in close partnership with the education and care teams to plan transitions and to develop, implement, monitor and review pupil assessment profiles and Individual Education Plans.

The Head of Care manages the New Struan residential service, which operates on three sites and provides a caring, happy environment together with a well-structured programme for the educational development of each pupil.

The Business Manager is responsible for the management of New Struan support services and leads a multi-disciplinary team of administrators and support staff including finance, human resources, catering, cleaning, health & safety and building maintenance.
