Philosophy and Ethos

New Struan School is at the forefront of demonstrating that children with ASD benefit from education approaches and programmes that specifically target the challenges of autism. Staff, parents and pupils work together to create highly individualised plans that aim to improve the child's social understanding, communication and ability to adapt and problem solve.

The school aims to specifically address those problems that affect the child's access to a broad and balanced curriculum, the child's interaction with the physical environment and the child's involvement in his/her own learning. Individualised programmes are designed to include:

Functional Education Experiences
Communication Skills
Social Skills
Daily Living Skills
Recreational skills

Above all else the school endeavours to create a community where pupils feel they are understood, trusted, supported and respected.
