The Scottish Society for Autism
Autism and Asperger Syndrome are lifelong conditions which isolate the child or adult from the world as we know it. They affect the ability to communicate, form relationships and understand everyday activities. The Society has been supporting people and families in Scotland affected by autism for over 40 years.
The aims of the Society are:
- to provide high quality support and opportunities to people with autism
- to raise public awareness of autism and how it affects people's lives
- to influence policy and practice by working with a range of organisations
A parent's perspective
"Life with an autistic child is all about extremes. What is a normal child's hobby is an autistic child's obsession."

A local authority's view
"We involve service users and their carers fully in arranging and reviewing their support and receive excellent feedback about their experience of the Society."
